‘Shameless’ season 5, episode 8 preview: What lies ahead for Emmy Rossum, cast?

Sunday night, “Shameless” had an episode that had some fun, had some emotion, and also had a great turn from William H. Macy as director. It also had a moment where Fiona may have finally had a little bit of closure on her past, as she realized that she is not the same person that she was years ago in regards to Jimmy. Of course, whether or not she holds to that philosophy remains to be seen.

Next week, the Showtime dramedy returns with another episode that is going to further along the emotional journey of Emmy Rossum’s character. Not only will her live life be a focus, but you are also going to have a chance to see her do her part to pick up Ian. As you would expect, this does not go anywhere near as well as it should.

As for some other noteworthy stories in this episode, be prepared to see a story all about a drug trade, which is probably going to lead to some other not-so-great circumstances. Even when it appears as though one character is starting to move forward, the same cannot be said for another.

We are past the halfway point by at least a decent amount now, so our suggestion for the rest of the story that remains is just to continue to bring us closer and closer to a strong ending this season. We’d be surprised if we see Jimmy beyond this season; then again, what else is there to his story?
