‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: Monopoly game coming in 2015
You can now add Monopoly to the list of products officially licensed by HBO and “Game of Thrones.”
The network has confirmed that later this year, there will be an official version of the game coming out that features everything from collectible pieces to locations and cards that are themed very much around the series, which is based in turn on the George R.R. Martin books. This is not exactly an innovation that is new to the world. After all, we currently own Nintendo and World of Warcraft versions of the game already, and there are probably hundreds of these that are already out there. To us, the biggest surprise is that this has not been made before now. This show almost screams “Monopoly” in a way; while the subject matter may be a little more intense for the traditional Monopoly target audience, both products are in a way about conquering a vast landscape using your resources, and the politics you employ to get yourself further. Also, in both people often resort to dirty tricks in order to win.
You can view a slightly-larger version of that image by clicking on it; while it is hard to see everything, we can tell that the pieces include a dragon egg, a White Walker, a three-eyed raven, and a variety of other familiar figures. Meanwhile, the railroads are some of the primary Houses in Westeros.
