ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: Could there be a B613 spin-off series?

Shonda Rhimes is very much the overlord of ABC’s Thursday-night lineup. She has either created or is deeply involved with “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and “How to Get Away with Murder,” and that is a mouthful.

Is it even remotely possible that Rhimes could handle more than that? There is apparently a part of her brain that wishes that she could, but also a part of her that seems to understand that there is no way at all that it would be feasibly possible. We’re specifically talking about the world of B613 on “Scandal,” which is so complicated and has so many interesting people including Huck, Jake, Rowan, and others we have seen from time to time. There is a whole lot of cool stuff that could be mined here, and it would give the series a chance to be somewhat dark and surprising.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she confirmed that there have been at least some times in which she has considered taking on more work, but in the end, the logical part of her brain weighs it out.

“I have some jobs, as you may notice, and not a lot of time to do some new jobs … The last time I had three shows [Grey’s, Scandal and Private Practice] I created on the air at the same time, I promised myself I’d never do that again — so right now, I’m good.”

All three of Shonda’s shows return on Thursday, January 29, and we should have some further news before that. Stay tuned!
