‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5 spoilers: Is the future rocky for Spencer, Toby?

Does some drama lie ahead on “Pretty Little Liars” season 5? Based on one of the latest photos featuring Spencer and Toby, the answer to that appears to be “yes.”

This attached image here is from the show’s January 13 episode, the second back after the hiatus, and it shows Troian Bellisario and Keegan Allen’s characters at odds with one another. Why could they be fighting? Ultimately, there are more reasons here than we could possibly count. The two have gone through quite a bit over the past several seasons, including issues with honesty, questions about Toby’s involvement in the “A Team,” and also Spencer’s addiction issues.

Yet, they have somehow made it through all of it, and are still doing the relationship dance. It is for this reason that we’re at least reasonably confident that they will find a way out of this all right. If they can survive almost every roadblock thrown at them so far, what’s another one to overcome?

One of the reasons we do imagine Spencer being at least somewhat preoccupied away from Toby on the upcoming season is simply a matter of much of her attention being elsewhere. Specifically, we are speaking here mostly about whether or not she can prove that Alison was actually responsible for Mona’s death. This will be an objective for many of the Liars early on through the fifth season, but there are still (understandably) many questions about whether or not she was truly guilty.
