‘Sherlock’ season 4: Steven Moffat not so keen on Santa Claus appearance

Sherlock season 3Let’s hope that you enjoyed seeing Santa Claus on the “Doctor Who” Christmas Special. After all, it does not quite appear as though you are going to be seeing the Jolly Old Elf turn up on “Sherlock” at any point in the future.

Speaking in a new interview (per USA Today), showrunner Steven Moffat had a laugh about what Santa would look like in the same universe as Benedict Cumberbatch’s character:

“I don’t think it would work honestly. (Laughs) Doctor Who is a very different kind of show, You can more or less bring anything into Doctor who you want provided you explain it properly. It has a magical, fantastical, science-fictional side to it. Sherlock? If Santa Claus turned up in Sherlock, he might have a problem with that.”

This is then again one of the many reasons why you are not going to see a “Doctor Who” / “Sherlock” crossover. Sometimes, there really are things that are better left to the imagination.

With this being said, it is possible that there will be a new “Sherlock” episode on the air next Christmas. Moffat and his crew are preparing to film a new 90-minute episode early next year, and that could ultimately function as a big Christmas Special in 2015. However, it has not been confirmed by the BBC as to when it will actually air.

Following that special, you can expect another three episodes to surface that will comprise the official fourth season. Everyone still seems to enjoy making them, so there is little reason to think the franchise will end soon.
