‘The Following’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Smallville’ alum comes over for arc
Want another reason to be excited about the third season of “The Following“? Well, we think we may have it courtesy of the following casting news. According to a new report coming in from Entertainment Weekly, Allison Mack, who you know from her role over the years on “The Following,” is joining the world of the Fox series.
So who will she be playing? Basically, what we know is that she is Hillary, a police officer in a small town who somehow gets mixed up in the latest Ryan Hardy murder investigation. Basically, this is probably one of the worst positions for someone like her to be. There is a new serial killer on the loose, and these small towns do not exactly have a whole lot of resources at their disposal.
There is a sort of pseudo-tie here to “Smallville,” at least in that series star Shawn Ashmore previously guest-starred on the Superman prequel series. Meanwhile, his brother Aaron Ashmore was a huge part of the show as Jimmy Olsen. Interestingly, Jimmy is a character being cast all over again in the upcoming Supergirl project that is currently in development at CBS.
While we learned this week that Kevin Bacon and company are going to be returning to Fox in March, there are still many questions in regards to the story. For example, Joe Carroll’s involvement is not a sure thing, and while Ryan’s life is going to start off in a good place this season, just how long is that going to last.
There’s also something else to worry about this season, as we have a new showrunner on board. Sometimes, creative changes can be good for a show … but more often than not, they mean trouble.
