‘Shark Tank’ video: Heidi Ho looks to redefine dairy-free cheese in 100th episode
Heidi Ho has some big challenges going into Friday night’s “Shark Tank.” Typically, we’re not too excited about the vegan foods market. Most of the products out there taste like either rubber or cardboard, and it’s often similar to the gluten-free market: Unless you make it yourself, you are typically left with a weaker product.
However, we have to give some credit right away to the company, who makes dairy-free cheeses using a variety of plant products. They made us interested just looking at their product on the website, and apparently, it is so good that Lori Greiner is throwing out an offer seemingly just on the basis of how much she loves it.
This is where things get a little bit complicated for the company. Do you take what seems to be a pretty-generous offer right away? The temptation is there that some other sharks could want to jump in with big offers of their own, and you want to hear them out if you can get an even better deal.
However, this is an exception to the rule in some ways. While we wouldn’t favor Lori if we were going on the show for a cell-phone app or a clothing company, she is the queen of QVC. Using that platform to sell gift boxes of this product, or to get further opportunities for sales, is too good an opportunity to pass up. No other shark has that at their disposal.
We do understand, though, that other sharks do have some experience, as well. Mark Cuban has been involved in the health-conscious food business for years, Kevin O’Leary is a master of distribution, and Barbara Corcoran has worked wonders with a number of food products brought into the tank.
It’s a tough decision, but Heidi Ho’s future may be based on whether or not Lori wants to keep that offer out there.
