‘The Amazing Race 25’ episode 7 review: Did Adam & Bethany suffer curse of the Express Pass?
Tonight’s “The Amazing Race 25” episode was one that had a new setting in Sicily, and also some challenges that were admittedly pretty fun.
For one, we really liked the task that was all about racing … in cars. There was an element of danger to it, but also an element of competition watching all the teams compete with one another.
Really, the entire leg was broken up into two separate groups: You had the Cyclists and the Dentists leading the way, and then right behind them, the other four teams. At two separate points in the early going, it looked like two teams were going to be screwed.
- First, you had the Wrestlers Brooke & Robbie struggling to find a cab, and this put them into last place during the early going. They did eventually catch up at the racing Roadblock.
- Then, you had Sweet Scientists Amy & Maya realizing that for the Detour (painting versus watching opera), only the first four teams could do the painting. Luckily, it seemed like the opera was actually faster than the painting task in the event that you either had a great memory, or you were able to work with another team. That’s what they did with the wrestlers.
For a brief moment after that, it felt like surfers Adam & Bethany were going to suffer from the dreaded curse of the Express Pass, and John & Jessica from their first season were going to be looking back at them and cackling. Luckily, they managed to finish the painting quickly enough to avoid grave danger.
Sadly for Tim & Te Jay, they came in last mostly because they couldn’t paint fast enough. That really was their only real flaw in the lag, save for choosing the wrong Detour. They were spared due to a non-elimination leg, and anything can happen from here. Grade: B+.
