‘Blue Bloods’ season 5, episode 6 review: Did Danny lose $2000 in the Battle of the Shields?
With tonight being Halloween we are hoping for a good scary episode of “Blue Bloods”. We want to see something that gives us thrills, chills and the creeps – the Reagan family seem a like a bunch that would love to play Halloween pranks on each other.
Battle of the Shields is coming up (The fire department up against the police department as they participate in a friendly boxing match) and Frank wants Jamie to jump in after Rico hurts his foot. He tells Jamie that he has 6 days to get ready for the fight and he asks Frank why he doesn’t ask Danny since he won the year before, but Frank asked Jamie so that Danny won’t fight. With all the trouble that Danny was in recently with the “police brutality” (and was eventually cleared of) it makes sense that maybe he doesn’t want Danny to fight. Jamie decides to participate in the Battle of the Shields, but once Danny makes a bet against the fire department (that will run Danny a $2000 bill if he loses) Jamie sends Danny out of the gym before he puts anymore pressure on him. When Jamie learns that Rico’s foot is healed, he tells Rico that this is his night and he fights instead. So did Danny lose the $2000? It wasn’t revealed, but we hope to find out next week!
Nicky got into two more schools since it seems she lost the college she wanted to get into last week after her whole social media flub (trashing a teacher publicly on social media). Erin is worried about the price tag on college these days (60,000 grand a year is kind of outrageous) and although Jack is going to help as much as he can, it’s going to be tough on Nicky. Erin thinks about going into private practice to make more money, but Frank reminds her that there is more to a career then zeros on a pay cheque. When she meets with a firm that is willing to give her a big fat pay cheque as well as make her a partner, she asks for 24 hours to think about the offer. Nicky figures out a way to go to college and save a lot of money, but Erin says that there’s no rush to make the decision and that she wants the best for Nicky.
Erin is going up against her rival in court – a woman named Tory that is still keeping score on everything between them since high school. She decides to go to lunch with Tory and the score keeping continues as she pushes her perfect family and Erin admits that she’s split from Jack. In the end though Erin feels that she’s come out on top since she’s not defending people who have a criminal record longer then Santa’s naughty or nice list.
We were a little surprised that there was no Halloween story, no mention of Halloween, absolutely nothing! A little bit of a bummer to be honest – if you’re going to air on Halloween, at least give us something. Episode grade: C+
