‘Downton Abbey’ season 5, episode 6 preview: Plotting the future for Laura Carmichael’s Edith
“Downton Abbey” can be at times a very tricky show to figure out, and also a sneaky one when it comes to its episodes airing. (Warning: Spoilers ahead for Americans!)
What we mean by that is basically this: We are already five episodes into the fifth season, and somehow, it does not even remotely feel like that right now. Can you believe that after Sunday’s episode wraps, we are just two short episodes away from the end until Christmas Day? Maybe this is also an indictment on how fast the time flies, or how good this show can sometimes be.
The photo above is another new look at Sunday night’s installment, and this one features none other than Laura Carmichael’s character of Lady Edith. Is she happy? Sad? A different emotion entirely? For some reason, we are still having a very hard time really figuring that out properly. Maybe one of the issues that we’re having here is that it looks like someone told her to smile, and yet at the same time she’s having an almost-impossible time going through with it.
Then again, it is very hard for Edith to have anything to be that happy about. While she’s come up with a new plan for her daughter, there is no guarantee that it will work. In addition to that, one other thing that she has to be worried about for the moment is a surprise that may come her way Sunday. We don’t want to say too much, but this could touch back all the way to the beginning of last season.
