‘NCIS’ season 12, episode 6 preview: Michael Weatherly’s new story in ‘Parental Guidance Suggested’
Tonight’s new episode of “NCIS” brought what we feel to be personally a pretty good story. You have the presence of pirates, some exciting action, and even McGee taking on some new responsibility while back at the base.
If you want to see the team doing more together, then you will almost surely approve of next week’s “Parental Guidance Suggested.” The team will be more united, but there will be another crime to resolve. Not only that, but you’re going to see a flashback from Tony’s days in Philadelphia courtesy of a new character, played by Marisol Nichols on the show.
For a few more details, take a look at the attached synopsis:
“The NCIS team must determine if the murder of a Navy commander’s wife is linked to her profession as a therapist or an act of terrorism after finding the commander’s name on a Jihadist target list. Meanwhile, the team discusses Halloween costumes and Tony’s recent dating habits.”
If there is anything in particular to look forward to from this episode, we’d say that it is the opportunity to figure out a thing or two all about Michael Weatherly’s character and his past … and how that could impact the future. Also, getting to see some Halloween goodness should also add to the fun of the hour. This show does need a little bit of that sometimes, especially after dealing with as much drama as it has within the span of the first handful of episodes.

I thought Choke Hold was a bit too graphic and the writers never usually show so much. I stopped watching Criminal Minds because of that.
I loved the Ducky episode So it Goes, thought it was brilliant. I would like to know the backstory about how Ducky, Gibbs & Director Sheppard got away in a boat in some drama that was mentioned in a much earlier episode (can’t remember which one) about how he pushed a Frenchman over a 60 foot cliff and made the remark there was water below. A Gibbs and Ducky episode would be a first I think.
Sick of Tony being the ‘victim’ whether its from his family past or with Ziva. I think its time to either end Ziva’s character for good, or bring her back in some way that is recurring throughout the seasons. I think they should have a long talk, and not in the mensroom! and Ziva tell him they can only be good friends and nothing more. Tony was quite mature in his ‘words’ in season 11 and I hope they keep him that way. He has slipped again this season with his inconsiderate remarks to Bishop about her sex life. Her husband can fix that trait by punching him in the face. Maybe then he’ll get the message permanently.
How about a Fathers Day episode? A tribute to all good fathers and the Vets out there.
I liked Leia. Thought she was a bit more “Ziva” like but not the same. Time will tell with her if she comes back. Just hope they don’t turn her into “Ziva.”

I found the episode too graphic as well and nearly turned it off. I hope that it isn’t a new trend for the show.

I hope for some Halloween fun like they’ve had in the past with pulling jokes on each other. Leave Tony’s sex life alone for now and just combine comedy with the drama. Have him be the man in charge that we know he can be. We as fans need a final resolution to the “TIVA”. GG has to get some kind of answer from Cote whether she is interested in returning to NCIS or not and plan from there. If she says yes and can indicate whether it is in the near future or more of a series finale thing then it would help with character development for Tony. If it is in the near future then plans can be made for a storyline to reintroduce her character and a decision can be made as to what sort of relationship they would have. If it is a series finale thing where Tony and Ziva would get their happy ending then Tony could have a relationship or not in between. If Cote says definitely no then the writers can come up with a final storyline for the characters relationship. I suggest that if there is a final write out for Ziva – she could return for 1-3 episodes for a short arc and is either killed off ( it could be heroic saving Tony and/or the team) or something happens that Tony and Ziva realize that things will never work out for them and they separate for good. This would be a real conversation/box of Kleenex episode I think. Anyhow, that’s my take.

Why should it be up to Cote if she wants to return? Souldn’t it be up to CBS if they want to offer her the chance to return? And they did have a final resolution to “the TIVA” when Ziva rejected Tony on the tarmac in Israel and cut all ties to the team without even saying goodbye to Tim, Abby, Ducky or Jimmy. I think that TPTB need to man up and stop dangling the possibility of her return. They really need to say “no, she will not be returning; her story is done”.

We as fans still don’t know the real reason(s) why Cote left except for her saying that it was a personal thing and she wasn’t going into it and she left on her terms and one of those seems to be that the door would remain open for her. Because that door is open, that is why the story isn’t finished. It was just Ziva saying good-bye to Tony in Israel. She indicated that she needed time alone to think about things and what she was going to be doing from here on in and wouldn’t be able to do that working at NCIS. I initially liked the episode but now that I’ve rethought things I think there needed to be a more final feeling of departure. There wasn’t enough in the final episode to indicate her life going forward or her saying good-bye to the rest of the team. If she had left NCIS to return to Mossad or some other job, it would have felt more final because there could have been an episode about Ziva’s last day at NCIS and a proper good-bye and send off maybe with her going to the airport with Tony taking her of course so TIVA fans got their moment. That being said, if Ziva does return they will need to deal with the topic of her sudden departure to have proper story continuity for her character. I do hope if Cote does reprise her role as Ziva that there is conversation with Tony and the rest of the team about where she has been and where she plans to go from here. Her role whether minor or not will be very different as the character will have changed quite a bit. Yes, the show runner made a big mistake in all of this and how it was handled. It is the lack of proper closure that has caused all the hue and cry this past year.
