‘The Following’ season 3 spoilers: Gregg Henry upgraded to regular
For those who want to see even more of creepy Joe Carroll and his inner circle, we’ve got some further news on “The Following” season 3 right now.
Per a new report from Deadline, Gregg Henry has been promoted to a series regular in the role of Dr. Arthur Strauss, the mentor for James Purefoy’s character who you previously saw in some season 2 episodes.
What this news means to us is that regardless of wherever we saw Joe end up at the end of this past season, he still has some sort of major role to play in the story moving forward. With all of that being said, we do have to figure out how in the world he will turn back up. We feel like at this point, the only way to make this character work is if he is somehow different than what we’ve seen before. We don’t think he can be redeemed, but we do at least want to see a different version of him. The same thing time and time again becomes boring, and that is why we don’t often see characters in this “villain” role last for an extremely long time on a single show.
Hopefully, we’ll have some further news on “The Following” pretty soon, but for the time being there is still no firm premiere date via Fox. Our guess is January, if for no other reason than that the show needs time to air all of their episodes before hitting the May sweeps, and this is a 15-episode show.
