Is ‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4, episode 11 new tonight?
At this time on most other Saturdays, we would be doing our best to brace and prepare ourselves for something that has become a fall tradition: The airing of another new “Hell on Wheels” episode over on AMC!
Instead, this week we’re going to have to settle for going back and looking at Cullen Bohannon highlight reels instead. Why? AMC has opted to air a “Walking Dead” marathon tonight instead, which is something that they always do the weekend before the premiere. As for the reason why, that’s an easy question to answer: Ratings. AMC loves money, and this show makes a ton of it. You could probably hire Greg Nicotero to make an army of paper zombies using all of the money this show pulls in. The network’s already got a spin-off coming, and they already renewed the show without a single season 5 episode coming on the air.
As for the rest of “Hell on Wheels,” you will be waiting until Saturday, November 8 to see the rest of the season play out. It’s a little bit of a bizarre decision, but we’re not going to question it. We just hope that everyone who watched the first ten episodes remembers to come back and watch the final three. We’ve always felt it to be a tricky move to give any serialized show a lengthy hiatus, especially one that already airs on a hard night to begin with.
As for what does lie ahead, we anticipate Ruth being at the center of the story now after she made the choice to shoot Sydney Snow rather than Cullen. Did she have motive? You better believe it, and some may even agree with her actions. With that said, she’s still got to answer to the letter of the law.
If you missed it, AMC released a behind-the-scenes video recently showing off that fire scene that devastated Ruth so badly. You can take a look at that here, and be sure to also sign up to get some TV news sent right over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo via AMC.)

How can Ruth be in trouble for killing one dude when Bohannon just offed half of the Cheyanne police department in that train shootout? Dude should have been dead anyway. Plus he would have been hanged for killing the kid so screw it.

Obviously, AMC knows exactly what it’s doing in regards to producing fantastic TV shows (Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels). They’re all great shows in their own right, and they’re all bringing in loads of viewers and LOADS of cash. I understand why some viewers would be upset that they have to wait a couple weeks until the show returns for it’s final episodes of the season, but that builds up the anticipation even more. If you are a true fan of any show, you wouldn’t stop watching it just bc they took a short hiatus from premiering episodes. Hell on Wheels is a great series, and Season 4 has been thrilling so far. I hope it gets renewed for a fifth season, and I do wish they would move it back to Sunday nights.
***As a side note, anyone who says that The Walking Dead is a stupid show about zombies and that it’s boring and overrated either has never watched the show and/or has no idea what it’s really about.

I saw this article before having seen the episode on demand and had been wondering what the hell kind of situation would have Ruth making a choice between shooting Bohannon or Snow. Of course now I see that you meant she chose to shoot Snow before Bohannon did.

This is total BS.. To Hades with Walking Dead. It’s all the same, Zombie, Headshot, Dead, with an “Oh no, I got bit, what will happen with me?” Headshot, dead. One less person in the group, and start all over again, Blah, Blah, Blah, etc.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Wait did I miss a headshot?, No. I think I’m good, phew,,, wouldn’t wanna get zombified.

Dick – you don’t get it, I understand you are not a WD fan, but the zombies are not the WD.

Hell on Wheels deserves so much better than Saturday night… and, unfortunately, AMC, at this point…
Best “western” on television…

I hope AMC not only does a Hell on Wheels marathon before the new episode returns but also renews it.

If AMC was smart, they’d find a way to accomodate both. I’m willing to bet that HoW and Walking Dead fans are mutually exclusive.

What a Kick in the gut for Hell on Wheels. And “WE” the fens. It wouldn’t have killed them to take a 1 hour break tonight and air the episode. After all those “Die-Hard” Walking Dead Fans have to eat and go to the restroom sometime.

It allows more people to catch up to the current season. And with all the on-demand systems and DVRs it has the possibility to increase the viewership. While AMC might be a “greedy cable corporation” to do this, they do make great shows and don’t have the deep pockets like FOX, CBS and NBC.
Are you going to stop watching your show over this?
No

I can see running reruns of Walking Dead prior to the new season, but to preempt a really popular show in the middle of its new season is really dumb. Not everyone is a zombie fan! Some of us like a good old western. One week would be bad enough. Four weeks is ridiculous.

The overrated, overexposed zombie regurgitation everywhere in mainstream makes way TOO MUCH money. Zombies, indeed, but on which side of the screen?
The long break in broadcast is more than a ‘little bit of a bizarre’ decision…& YOU’RE NOT going to question it? Well…why NOT? Seems stupid for a desperate, greedy cable corporation. Not that television=smart anyway…
