‘Chicago Fire’ season 3: Lauren German speaks out on Shay premiere shocker

It was only a matter of time before we were going to hear from Lauren German about the surprising events of the “Chicago Fire” season 3 premiere, and now we have in the form of a touching note she wrote to most of her fans.

Today, hours after her character Shay was killed off (a smart delay for those who chose to DVR the episode), German took to her Twitter account to wax poetic about her time with the cast and the producers; not only that, but she was grateful that she had the chance to even play such a complex character in the first place:

“Hello beautiful people! I want to say thank you to NBC, Dick Wolf and the entire team for letting me be a part of such an amazing experience. I have to say I’ve never been around a more gifted, special, heartfelt, funny and loving cast and crew as with the CF gang. The show gave me so many priceless gifts. I’m forever grateful. I mostly want to thank the fans for their support and love on this journey. You all are so beautiful. It was a great honor to portray Shay. I love her: her spirit, her flaws, her honesty. And most of all she brought me the most genuine & meaningful interactions with you all, the fans, & my heart swells with gratitude. Thank you, thank you! So much love to you all.”

Obviously, we understand anyone who would be sad over German saying goodbye, but if there was one thing that we could tell you right now, it is that goodbye rarely means forever when it comes to TV. Maybe she’ll get another flashback here someday, but if nothing else this gives her something great on the resume, and we’re sure she will find another TV gig soon enough.
