‘Sherlock’ season 4: Why are Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman not at Emmys?

Sherlock season 3Before the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards even air, we have to bring you what is some fairly sad news: You’re not going to be seeing either Benedict Cumberbatch or Martin Freeman in attendance.

So where in the world are the two “Sherlock” stars? Well, let’s just say that they have a pretty great reason not to attend. Both of the stars are now busy working on other projects around the world, and these commitments constantly keep them on the go. This is also, after all, one of the reasons why we’ve only had three seasons of “Sherlock” so far! The two go off, do other things, and then come together again whenever it is time to do their show.

The interesting thing is that both Benedict and Martin could defeat each other tonight in the Lead Actor in a Miniseries category. Cumberbatch has the nomination for “Sherlock,” while Freeman has both one for this show and the sensational “Fargo.”

As for when these two actors are going to come together to actually film the fourth season of “Sherlock,” think early next year. There will be a Christmas Special to air on the BBC, and then three extra episodes in addition to that. In the end, this basically means that you are getting an extra episode compared to what you usually receive, which is by our estimation definitely worth celebrating.

Hopefully, Benedict and Martin will get some future nominations worth celebrating in the future, and this will allow the two to be in attendance.
