‘The Newsroom’ season 3 notes: Latest on Jeff Daniels, Olivia Munn
There is a part of us that is still hoping that HBO chooses to unveil their first teaser for “The Newsroom” during the upcoming “True Blood” series finale, there is still no word on if that is going to happen. We’ll just keep hoping.
To helps tide you over, we’ve at least got the latest now on what some of the show’s stars are up to from across the entertainment world, beginning with a man in Jeff Daniels who has spent most of the month making music in Michigan. Speaking to the Chicago Tribune, Daniels gave a refreshingly honest response when asked about whether or not he thought he would end up strictly as a musician rather than an actor still getting paid for big roles:
“I thought maybe 10 years ago that this might be where I wind up. Because movie and TV careers don’t last, or if they do, you’re playing that sixth role: “We need you to be this jerk father, kind of like what you were in ‘Squid and the Whale,’ and by the way, there’s no money.” I was starting to look at that kind of a career, and it was like, you know what, there’s so many things I’d rather be doing.”
As for his co-star Olivia Munn, she recently was a part of a piece in W Magazine, where she explained that growing up on a military base in Japan, she rarely got to watch anything current growing up.
Also, she explained in the interview something funny and unique for a star of an Aaron Sorkin show:
“I’m a naturally fast speaker … I think I’m the only person in history who had to slow down for Sorkin.”
