‘Elementary’ season 3 spoilers: In which we continue hoping for Natalie Dormer
We really love Natalie Dormer and we’re quite fond of “Elementary,” but we continue wondering to ourselves whether or not the series made the wrong choice in casting her for Moriarty / Irene Adler.
After all, think about it for a second. This is one of the most notorious characters in all of Sherlock Holmes lore, and you’ve coupled them with one of Sherlock’s great loves. Meanwhile, you’ve only had her appear once since the season 1 finale. Dormer’s been very busy in between “Game of Thrones” and the latest edition of “The Hunger Games” franchise … perhaps even too busy.
According to TVLine, there is not currently any news on whether or not we’ll see Dormer during the third season, which at least to us does mean that she is not a part of the early episodes that have been filmed. With that being said, maybe it’s still possible that she turns up later in the season for an arc. We certainly hope so, since at a certain point you would have to wonder whether or not the show needs to find someone else to be a different Moriarty-like character, or least offer up a different sort of fan service to longtime Arthur Conan Doyle fans.
The challenge in the early going is of course that Dormer will be busy the next few months filming “Game of Thrones.” While commitments for an individual actor on the show are not massive given the enormous cast, it is still next to impossible to know each person’s specific filming schedule.
