Celebrate ‘Community’ season 6 on Yahoo with San Diego Comic-Con Subway party
Are in in San Diego for Comic-Con today? We’ve just received word of a celebration that will be going on at a restaurant that has become almost synonymous with beloved cult TV shows these days: Subway.
Thursday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. Pacific time until 8:00, Yahoo is throwing a “Community” season 6 celebration party at the Subway at 611 K Street. This is just a matter of blocks away from the convention center, and it is coming after the show’s big panel today in Ballroom 20. (You can read more about that here.) The announcement that we got promised some free food, which given the prices at Comic-Con almost makes it worth attending based on that alone.
This is definitely a great time to celebrate if you are a longtime “Community” fan. After all, it was just earlier this summer when it looked like this show was barely afloat in the water after NBC canceled it. Talks with Hulu fell apart, and it did not seem like anyone was going to be able to sweep in and give it another shot. Then came Yahoo Screen as the knight in shining armor. The show has yet to film anything for the sixth season, but hopefully the panel today will fill us in on some of what is planned and how the show looks to celebrate once again having a second life.
For those who missed the “Community” – Subway connection, the sandwich giant had a part in the season 5 finale as Greendale was partially converted to one after the Save Greendale Committee did too good of a job making the school into a reputable institution. Subway also was a big sponsor of “Chuck” near the end of its run, with some crediting the shop for helping to ensure that it was renewed on at least one occasion.
We’ll have more news on the “Community” panel later, and you can check that out over at the link here. Also, sign up now for some greater TV updates on everything we cover via our newsletter.
