‘The Last Ship’ episode 3 preview: One brutal recap
There are exposition scenes, and then there is the preview video below for Sunday night’s new episode of “The Last Ship.” In a word, this one is pretty brutal.
The only way to really sum this clip up is by saying that it is a brutally honest summary of all of the terrible things that have been happening, and it’s strictly up to the characters as per whether or not they want to hear them. Obviously a lot happened while the crew was up in the Arctic, which does in a sense make me wonder whether or not this scene is entirely necessary.
Still, this scene does still touch on something that we feel like will be an enormous part of the show, and that is how powerful the individual is. These people aboard this ship are going to be some of the most skilled left in the world, and they are valuable … so valuable that there will be fights and negotiations with them. How do you hold strong, and how do you convince yourself that your way is the right way? Each of these are important questions.
One other thing that we are very interested in that is not touched on fully here is the issue of what the survival circumstances in this world are going to be. We’ve seen a lot of this lately in shows like “Revolution” and “The walking Dead,” but only the latter really got it right when it comes to really pushing things to a character level. This is something that “The Last Ship” still needs to work on, even if it has its visuals down to an art at this point.
