‘Silicon Valley’ episode 7 preview: Jared finds his way home

Is Jared from “Silicon Valley” the best new character on TV this year? That may be a hard mountain to climb, but we’ll at least say for sure that he is one of our favorites from any comedy series. Zach Woods has painted this guy perfectly, as he is extremely competent at his job, but at the same time hapless when it comes to how other people are still somehow ahead of him.

The perfect example of this comes in the sneak peek below from Sunday night’s episode, which marks the Pied Piper Team’s arrival to the conference that we have heard about the past few episodes. Jared of course is desperate to make a great impression on all the attendees, so he prints out what is practically a history textbook’s worth of information all about who everyone is, and what they have accomplished.

What he didn’t realize, however, is that there is an app for that. This scene is hilarious, and at the same time makes us feel absolutely terrible for this character. In other words, this is precisely what we expected from him. Jared still finds a way to be behind regardless of how hard he tries.

So how does all of this connect back to the title? It really has to do with something that is actually not in this sneak peek, but in the last episode where Jared comically found himself stuck on a man-made island in the middle of the sea. Somehow, he seemed to make his way back.
