‘Community’ season 6 still a possibility; same with ‘How I Met Your Dad’

The latest -Even though we may now very well be on the other side when it comes to upfronts, there is still some news to report on the state of a number of different shows … and we have to start things out here with “Community.”

The show has been canceled by NBC, and despite some concerns about whether or not the producers even wanted it to go forward, they have since changed their tune. Deadline reports that there is a “possibility” the show has a new home, and mentions that there is interest coming in without the show even being shopped. We feel like there will be most likely meetings and offers, and from there, it will be up to whether or not things can work on a financial and creative level.

Also, the site reports that “How I Met Your Dad” is now the belle of the ball when it comes to shows that are being shopped around. Not only is there a chance that the show ends up on either NBC or Fox (20th Century Fox TV produces the show), but Netflix has also emerged as a somewhat surprising suitor. While there have been comedy series on there like “Arrested Development” and dramedies like “Orange Is the New Black,” this is a little more rare given that we imagine this show having a laugh track.

The Deadline report mentions some other shows that are still out there, but the only one we really see with a potential future is “Gaffigan,” which has tried for years now to be picked up at CBS. Jim Gaffigan is a very funny guy, and we could see a show fronted by him working on any broadcast network.

We’ll of course have some more on all of these shows in limbo soon, but for now, be sure to sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter to get more great updates via email on all we cover.
