‘Person of Interest’ season 3, episode 22 review: Is the Machine exposed?
At this particular moment in time, there are very few ways to describe “Person of Interest” other than “epic.” This is an epic show with a ton of epic themes, and when you think about how many balls the show has in the air, it’s impressive what they have been able to do.
Now comes the new challenge: Trying to ensure that the show does enough to make sure that all of these balls continue to be juggled for a few more weeks. You have Vigilance, various fears when it comes to the Machine, and all sorts of other cryptic / interesting developments.
The biggest thing that we are going to be talking about right now, though? That most of the hour was spent watching a setup that led to Finch, Shaw, and so many others facing the “trial” of their lives. Everything is coming close to being exposed, and there are not currently many options right now when it comes to how they could be saved. (To be honest, we just hope this ends soon … Vigilance is just not that compelling.)
Meanwhile, Root’s taking on Samaritan! Her little squad is something we are thoroughly entertained by, mostly because of the crazy energy that we consistently see Amy Acker bring to the proceedings.
In the end, we have no problem with “Person of Interest” gets ambitious so long as it backs up most of what it does. While anyone who just tuned in tonight for the first time would most-likely be completely lost, we appreciate a story that is more serialized this time of year. Also, we appreciate it when the show gives you the same sort of epic cliffhanger that we got at the end of this hour. The next week is going to feel like a very long period of time. Grade: B.
