TV Quick Hits: ‘Hot in Cleveland’ renewed; ‘Graceland,’ Yvonne Strahovski news; ‘To Appomattox’ miniseries
“Hot in Cleveland” renewed – Big news for all of you who have wanted to see more “Hot in Cleveland” on your TV sets in the near future: The show has been officially renewed now for a sixth season! The episode count will be 24, which puts it on the level of many successful network comedies. It also proves yet again that Betty White is one of the busiest 92-year olds on the entire planet.
TV Land President Larry W. Jones confirmed the news today with a statement:
“There’s instant magic when our cast, writers and crew get together for each episode … We’re so excited to be reaching these milestones and can’t wait to see what lies ahead in Cleveland.”
In other amazing news, Betty just did an AMA on Reddit that is pretty darn awesome. Check it out here.
New Civil War miniseries on Kickstarter – We’re going to have some coverage on this over the next several days, but there is an exciting Kickstarter going for “To Appomattox,” a miniseries that takes you to through much of the Civil War from a character perspective. The show’s creator Michael Frost Beckner (“The Agency”) tells us that the plan for the series is for it to be about the full picture of the war, from the battlegrounds to life behind the scenes.
There is an extremely impressive cast on presently on board, including Jason O’Mara (“Vegas,” “The Good Wife”) as Ulysses S. Grant and Damian Lewis (“Homeland”) as William T. Sherman. We’ve enclosed the Kickstarter video below if you want to find out more now, and as we teased, we’re going to have some more from some parties involved in the coming days. Think of this as an appetizer.
“Graceland” casting – Nestor Serrano of “24” has signed on to recur as the head of the Solano Cartel on the USA show, while Brit Morgan (“True Blood”) is going to play an attractive but also dangerous mercenary whose mind may be her greatest strength. Season 2 of the USA drama premieres this summer.
“Louie” promo – “Louie” returns to FX on May 5, but before we get to that, enjoy the latest promo from the show featuring Louis C.K. and … Yvonne Strahovski! That’s right; in our latest effort to share every single thing related to “Chuck” possible, the actress appears in the video below in a car with the comic.
