‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: ‘Community’s’ Jim Rash to appear as…
Given that “Community” once did an entire Christmas episode that was basically a mockery of “Glee,” we find it somewhat entertaining that there is now an actor from “Community” heading over to the Fox musical comedy … in a role that is certainly interesting, given the role that he is playing.
TVLine confirms that Mr. Dean Pelton himself in Jim Rash will appear on Tuesday night’s episode as the head of Fox, who goes to see Rachel in a performance of “Funny Girl” on Broadway. This is where she in turn starts to wonder if she has a future on the small screen, and if this is something that she really should start to explore as another avenue for herself in the event that the initial dream doesn’t quite work out for her.
What will be interesting here is whether or not Ryan Murphy is willing to make Rash’s character a complete jerk, or if he will pander to some extent in order to ensure that he doesn’t anger anyone at a network that his generously keeping his show on the air for a sixth season, even though the ratings by no means merit it.
Tuesday’s episode is the third-to-last one of season 5, so our expectation here is that in one way or another, we will have more information on this Rachel-on-Fox storyline by the time the season comes to a close. Early scuttlebutt is that season 6 will start a significant amount of time down the road, and will show the full evolution of most of the characters that have really come to matter to us over the years.
