‘True Blood’ season 7 spoilers: Ryan Kwanten teases character deaths ahead
Would “True Blood” really be “True Blood” at all without death? Probably not, and while we may want to see many of our favorite faces find some sort of happy ending at the conclusion of season 7, there is also a substantial part of us already that knows that this is frankly not possible. The show is not one that values mercy particularly high.
So for this latest round of “someone’s gonna die” teasers, we turn to a man in Ryan Kwanten who has already seen many of his co-stars go the way of the dodo this season. Speaking in a new interview with Zap2It, he handed down the sort of cryptic tease that can send a chill down the back of any superfan:
“There will have to be something, I dare say. Some more favorite [characters] are going to appear, and some more favorites are actually going to be on the chopping block.”
While promoting his new movie “The Right Kind of Wrong,” Kwanten also shared a few words about the sort of nostalgia that many of the actors are starting to feel at this point, now that they are getting so close to the ending:
“It’s definitely still the show that you remember and, hopefully, you love. There’s a certain sense of nostalgia that’s kicked in for all of us shooting this year, too, so we’re really trying to give it everything it’s worth. So far the scripts have been phenomenal. We’re sort of a third of the way through, and there’s a real energy to it … I sort of hope that it has emotional resonance as much as it does; sort of the shock value and things like that.”
The final season kicks off this summer, and some of the characters already cast include a new love interest for Arlene, and even one potentially for Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric Northman. As for what drama could come in the direction of Ryan’s Jason Stackhouse, you have to think along the lines of something with Violet and Jessica firmly involved given the history that is there.
