‘American Idol XIII’ results: Was MK Nobilette, Emily Piriz, or Jena Irene eliminated?

The logo -Notice a pattern when it comes to “American Idol XIII“? Well, one year after the ladies knocked out the male members of the top ten one right after the other, this season is turning out to be all about the boys. For the second straight week, there was nary a guy in the bottom three.

What is even more frightening right now? That five out of the seven women who made it into the top 13 have already landed in the bottom. The only two to escape that so far are Jessica Meuse and Majesty Rose.

In a sense, though, we really cannot blame America too much for their choice of contestants this time around. After all, Emily Piriz, Jena Irene, and MK Nobilette failed to have breakthrough performances. Jena was the best of the three, but even she was good-but-not-great. The only surprise to us was finding out that Emily, and not MK despite her being in the bottom two straight weeks, was sent packing. Is this a blow to Jennifer Lopez’s ego, given that Emily sang one of her songs? She just wasn’t strong enough to really merit getting another go at it.

Unfortunately for us, we cannot really say that there is anyone right now that has shown consistency and strength week after week. Alex Preston is probably the frontrunner, and while Majesty may lead the ladies, she really didn’t do herself any favors with her whole “don’t put the camera on me” face that she made prior to her being declared safe for the night.

Hopefully, next week some of these contestants will settle in … and possibly get a better mentor than Randy Jackson. Grade: C.
