‘Bones’ season 9, episode 15 review: Hodgins’ big surprise, a kidnapping, and more
When it comes to the biggest stories in Friday night’s new episode of “Bones,” they actually did not have that much to do at all with Booth or Brennan, even if they did have a story about money that played out here.
The more interesting story to us was Hodgins’ revelation that he had a brother in Jeffrey that he didn’t previously know about, who had spent the vast majority of his life living under the assumption that he was an only child. T.J. Thyne was great in this, as he wrestled with figuring out how he was going to be there for a guy who had no idea that he even existed. To make matters harder, this was a man who had spent all of his life in an asylum over some schizophrenic tendencies and some other forms of mental illness.
Hodgins and Jeffrey had a nice scene at the end of this where the two parties started to fully connect with another, and that suggests that there could be a relationship of sorts between the two moving forward. We do hope that we see him again.
As for the case of the week, the only substantial thing that we really need to say about it for now is that it was a somewhat-exciting kidnapping case that had a few twists and turns. It was nice to see a death that was not intended to be malicious, but there was not anything in here that we feel is going to stand out in the many weeks to come. Grade: B+.
