‘Supernatural’ season 9: The spin-off’s title will be…
If there is one thing that we personally feel like “Supernatural” has been known for among its diehard following over the years, it is coming up with really creative ideas and episode titles. So with all of this in mind, we were somewhat surprised today to hear “Supernatural: Tribes” factor into the equation.
This is the title that The CW announced this week for the new series, which will launch as a backdoor pilot near the end of this season. All we know for the time being is that this show is going to explore various factions within the supernatural community of Chicago, and it will basically have an urban feel compared to the more rustic and folksy feel of the original series.
So why the name “Tribes”? That is the question that we still are trying to figure out for so many reasons. For a show set in the city, why give it a name that is so primitive and doesn’t really fit with anything? Maybe it will, but is not the sort of start that we were hoping for the show. This is already coming off of the sad news that the series is expected to be populated with new people, which is only a bummer in that there were so many interesting people from “Supernatural” proper that could have been at the front of this. We would’ve been cool with something starring characters ranging from Garth to even Abaddon. (It worked for “The Originals,” so why not make another show about a bad guy?)
If this show ends up getting picked up to series, it will be on the air as early as the fall. We feel like much of its success is going to come based on the casting, mostly because as much as we may love “Supernatural,” we have to be honest here in saying that this is hardly a wonderful title, either, given just how vague it is.
