‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 video: The many faces of Nina Dobrev showed off

Is there something funny with The CW’s timing of the latest “Vampire Diaries”-related video? We like to think so, and for one simple reason: We have no idea why now of all times is when they decide to give us another look at the doppelganger story.

As you likely recall courtesy of the 100th episode of the show that aired on The CW Thursday night, there is not exactly even a separate body of Katherine’s even floating around anymore. Instead, the most-popular doppelganger of Nina Dobrev’s Elena is stuck inside of her own body. Therefore, there really is no double of anyone, given that Amara is also gone. It’s possible that there are more out there based on some hints, but we haven’t seen them just yet. The same goes for Paul Wesley’s Stefan, given what we saw happen to Silas earlier on this season.

Is it possible that there are doppelgangers that exist out there for other characters? Given that this is “The Vampire Diaries” that we are talking about here, we really would not put it past them at this point. This is a show that has pulled out many rabbits out of its hat already, and given that you have such popular actors as Ian Somerhalder and Candice Accola, isn’t there a certain amount of fun that could come out of them having some sort of shadow self to show off? The only negative to come out of this would be that if you have too many clones running around, you run the risk of sending some of the fans into a fit of rage thinking that they are seeing the same stories over and over again.
