‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Peter Capaldi gets endorsement from Jenna Coleman
“Doctor Who” season 8 is currently in production, and while you may be waiting for quite a while for some of these new episodes to actually air on the BBC, there is definitely quite a few things to look forward to … at least according to one of the show’s stars.
Speaking per Digital Spy while at the National Television Awards, Jenna Coleman offered up what was a pretty nice endorsement of Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor with the following quote:
“[Peter is] great – of course, we all know he’s going to be wonderful … It’s been great to get up on our feet and get started – we just seem to have taken off like a rocket.”
This is the same awards show that Matt Smith and the show as a whole received some honors, all of which were much-deserved after a truly banner year. Not only did you have a sizable chunk of season 7 episodes that aired, but also the 50th Anniversary Special and also the Christmas Special, which featured the big regeneration into Capaldi’s version of the character.
Filming will continue on for many months, as there are many episodes in a season and they take quite a while to film. There is still no premiere date, and given the way in which the BBC tends to hold on to these until the last minute for most shows, it is very well possible that we may not know one here at all until the late summer or early fall. Patience is a virtue, and while The Doctor does not always show it on some of his adventures, we must do so here. The only thing that we would say to expect for sure are plenty of surprises, and also moments that require imagination. This series has become known for both over the years.
