‘Survivor: Cagayan,’ ‘The Amazing Race 24’ premiere dates unveiled by CBS
Just as we expected going into today, CBS chose TCA to be the place to announce the premiere dates for some of their upcoming shows … many of which have been impacted by the Winter Olympics.
Typically, for example, you do not have to wait until the end of February for the start of another “Survivor” season; it’s usually at about the midway point that it comes back. However, the February 26 premiere works perfectly since it avoids all the Olympics, and allows the show a chance to really start strong. When you consider that there are no returning players, it needs every little advantage that it can get.
In case you were unsure as to how CBS was going to pull off airing the show and having it ready in time for the May sweeps, the answer to that is pretty simple: The premiere is a two-hour episode. That then puts the show around an hour at most behind schedule of where it typically is the rest of the time.
As for some other news, CBS also revealed that “The Amazing Race 24” will be on the air on Sunday, February 23, which is a little bit of a riskier date since that is also the Closing Ceremonies for the Winter Olympics in Sochi. There are going to be a score of all-star teams competing on the show for the million-dollar prize, and you can find out who by heading over to the link here.
“Survivor” has already been renewed for another season, so there is no real reason to worry about it drawing super high ratings. We’re much more concerned right now about the future of “Amazing Race”, since its ratings are down somewhat, and this show has to cost some serious coin to produce.
