‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Producers hoping for Lucy Hale reprise

How I Met Your Mother -The great news about “How I Met Your Mother” is that they have ensured over the years that the vast majority of the guest stars that they have booked have all been willing to come back for more over the course of this final season. That has included finding a way to secure Wayne Brady for multiple episodes, and getting both John Lithgow and Frances Conroy to make a variety of appearances as Barney’s parents.

But what about Robin’s side the family? That is a little bit more of an enigma right now. While it is pretty likely that we will see Ray Wise again as her father, given that he has made multiple appearances in the past, the jury is still out on both her mother and her sister Katie. Speaking to TV Guide, co-creator Carter Bays says that they are trying to get Lucy Hale back for the role if at all possible. The problem with this booking is that when they first cast her, it was all the way back in the show’s second season. That was before Lucy found fame as a “Pretty Little Liars” cast member. In between this show and her country music career, she doesn’t have much time on her schedule.

While Bays’ fellow co-creator Craig Thomas also says that they have to stay mum on the issue of Robin’s mom, we wonder for now if what was said about Hale could also be transferred over to another “Pretty Little Liars” actress in Ashley Benson. While Carly may not have known Barney very long, the two are half-siblings and have apparently spent a little bit of time together over the past few years. When she first showed up last season, she helped to cancel out one of the biggest fan theories for the show: That Barney’s sister was actually going to be Ted’s future wife, based on how he hadn’t seen her and how Ted referred to him as “Uncle Barney” when speaking to his kids.
