‘Game of Thrones’ season 4: Why you won’t see George R.R. Martin’s head on a spike

Take a look -Game of Thrones” has become an enormous success, and for whatever reason when you have something as big as this it begs the following question: Why not have some cameos by the creator? Maybe Stan Lee is to blame for that, or Peter Jackson in “Lord of the Rings,” but it seems that fans want to see the creator be a part of the fun.

What many out there may know already is that George R.R. Martin originally did shoot a cameo in the pilot for the massive HBO series, but the A Song of Ice and Fire series author ended up getting cut out. So could there be a replacement coming? It doesn’t sound like it. The author admitted to Empire Magazine that he had looked into getting his head on a spike for the show, but the production budget really didn’t leave any room for some of that to happen.

One thing that you should definitely remember here is that if Martin is to have a cameo on the show someday, the last thing that he’s going to do is actually tell you about it beforehand. That would, after all, ruin all of the fun for it.

Martin also claimed in the interview that he has a shrewd “plan” in the event that he runs out of room in the upcoming sixth and seventh books in the series to tell the original ending that he wanted:

“Two big books, 1,500 manuscript pages each—that’s 3,000 pages. I think I have a good shot. And you know, if I really get pressed, I’ve already established that red comet. I can just have it hit Westeros and wipe out all life.”

Martin maintains that the next book in the series will be done basically “when it’s done.” Meanwhile, “Game of Thrones” season 4 premieres on HBO next spring. Click here if you want to read some surprising information about it, at least via one of the show’s actors.
