Black Friday commercials are always an entertaining bunch, especially since you never know who is going to turn up in them. In past Macy’s commercials we’ve seen everyone from Donald Trump to Justin Bieber, and this time around, we are getting an opportunity to see one of the most-popular boy bands of our time in One Direction.
This commercial is specifically for the purpose of promoting Our Moment, which is the new fragrance that the boy band sensation One Direction (with a major TV connection in their own in “The X Factor“) is trying to sell in Macy’s Stores. There is also a nice charitable cause to go along with it, as $2 of every fragrance sold is donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which has the sole purpose of trying to improve the lives of so many kids in terrible and often near-death situations.
So hats off to the boys and Macy’s for that; but when it comes to the ad itself, it’s funny and it also conveys a fun message. Basically, you have an employee who is desperate to be a member of the band, and he seems to have some sort of magic power that allows his hair color and style to change at almost every given moment. We’re not entirely sure how he pulls that off, but the boys only seem slightly amused by it.
These guys been extremely busy lately: One Direction has performed “Story of My Life” (their new single) on such shows as “The X Factor” UK, “The X Factor” USA, “Good Morning America” (and early in the morning, no less), and also the 2013 American Music Awards. Yet, these guys somehow find a way to keep it going, and prepare for what could be another insane holiday season. The only lucky thing is that they may have at least a little bit of time for themselves over the holidays before doing a ton of touring in the new year.
