‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 11 preview: ‘Bedtime Stories’ already looks awesome

How I Met Your Mother -For those who are really hoping for a “How I Met Your Mother” classic come Monday night, we come bearing some good news: It really feels like the show is on the right track with the idea, which could have been understandably terrible. Instead, “Bedtime Stories” feels like a breath of fresh air, something that is fun and whimsical while still in the spirit of the show itself.

The main focus of this sneak peek below is a discussion between Ted and a fellow professor at the university, who apparently at one one in the past asked him to go out to dinner with him to get some pointers on how to make her own class more exciting … while also throwing a little bit of shade on architecture in the process. Personally, we like the reference back to Ted’s teaching career, given how rarely it actually comes up these days. It’s also especially easy to forget that at one point, the mother was supposedly in one of his classes.

We don’t particularly imagine that this flashback means too much of anything, at least unless this woman at some point has managed to get herself involved in the present story. But, it is at least one more addition to the them. Personally, we just hope that this episode is so great that it shuts up most of the critics who have beaten up the premise over the past couple of weeks. This really is a better idea than some are giving it credit for, mostly because the cynics are quick to bash this entire season. We know that the Mother has barely been used so far and the premise does not allow for that much legendary silliness in setting it all over the course of a wedding weekend, but this is still far and away much better than almost any other sitcom out there.
