‘American Horror Story’ season 4 spoilers: Ryan Murphy drops first hints about setting

American Horror StoryWhile we do still have many more episodes of “American Horror Story: Coven” to get through, it’s never too early to start planning out the rest of your show’s run, right? That is the strategy apparently of Ryan Murphy, who is in the process of trying to map out what he wants to do for the show’s fourth season while also watching it wrap up its third.

But how does he want to hint at where the show is going from here? He has said previously that he plans to be a little more overt in sharing the likely theme of the upcoming episodes this time around, and he tells Entertainment Weekly that he will start to drop some hints about season 4 during the 11th episode of the season. That’s nice to know, but it also means that you are going to be waiting until next year to find out much more than that.

Also, Murphy added a pair of other interesting scoops that give you an idea that this is something very different we are looking at here:

1. The time period will not be the present, at least in the same way that we saw “American Horror Story: Asylum” take place mostly in the past.

2. The new season is going to shoot in either New Orleans (which is where “Coven” has been filming) or in Santa Fe. Personally, we’re hoping more for the latter. It’s different enough from Albuquerque to not be “Breaking Bad 2.0,” and we’re starting to get a little tired of every single thing under the sun having some sort of Louisiana theme these days. We understand that it’s a pretty cool place, but there are tons of other cool places out there that are equally worthy of attention.

We already know that Murphy has asked both Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett to return for the new season, and they are at least considering it for the time being.
