‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5, episode 10 preview: Can Deeks, Kensi figure out their feelings?

More scoop -Odds are, you may be wondering why there is a new episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles” airing next week, while the flagship show is going to be taking a little bit of time off for the next couple. The simple answer is really that this is in preparation for a schedule tweak early next year. CBS is going to launch the new show “Intelligence” in January following a new “NCIS” episode, and in order to ensure that their finale dates end up being the same, there needed to be a week where there was a new episode of Sam and Callen without Agent Gibbs anywhere in sight. That episode is going to be next week.

It’s probably even more important to remember this new episode than usual, because in the wake of everything that we saw in tonight’s “Recovery,” we’re about to see an hour that is going to be perhaps more important to Deeks and Kensi than anything in their relationship thus far. You can get a better idea of what we’re talking about courtesy of the synopsis below:

“Callen and Sam enlist the help of a Gurkha, an elite Nepali soldier specializing in knife fighting, to retrieve a missing thumb drive. Meanwhile, Kensi and Deeks struggle to find a balance in their partnership.”

The reason that we stress how important this episode is is strictly because it will help to set the stage for the remainder of the season, and also a time when the two are going to have to investigate their own feelings and figure out if there is any way to make the romance work before it’s too late. There could be a brief separation mixed in here at some point, as well, given that Daniela Ruah will have a maternity leave coming up next year. How the show chooses to handle that will be especially interesting … and also torture to the fans.
