‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ review: Kyle Richards drama; Carlton Gebbia’s party

It's here -We have a feeling that for the time being, we are still just getting to know Carlton Gebbia on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” But based on what we have seen from her on the show so far, there really is quite a bit to like here. She is as strange and eccentric a character as there ever was, and what we really appreciate about her right now above all else is her commitment to not just conform into every possible “Real Housewives” stereotype. We haven’t heard that much gossip from her, and nor have we heard of her being interested in pursuing a career in pop music or some sort of line of luxury [insert random expensive thing here].

Instead, we had allegations that she was a witch, a pretty Gothic home, and a heck of an entertaining party that featured Kyle Richards trying to create a modern version of the Salem Witch Trials. Bravo found themselves a gem here in that she gives funny confessionals, and at the same time delivers on the show. When it comes to just entertainment alone, this is something that we relate to when we were just starting to get to know Heather Dubrow on the “Real Housewives of Orange County” over a year ago.

Of course, there was enough other drama happening to make the party a little more complicated than just Carlton and her supposed “witchy” ways. Instead, we had Brandi Glanville deciding to be the ultimate party pooper by spilling the means on almost every single major development that she could. First, she gossiped some more about gossiping about Lisa Vanderpump’s “fainting” spell on “Dancing with the Stars,” and it took her a few minutes to even admit to stirring things up in the first place. Then, she proceeded to tell Kyle Richards about some gossip about her relationship. This was a good episode for Brandi if “causing problems” constitutes a good episode, but she at least seems to realize that her role on the show is the resident pot-stirring, and she never shies away from it.

But all in all, this was the best episode of the season. We at least feel like the new ladies are holding their own, and while Yolanda Foster still feels a little underutilized, this show may be finally going places after a rough couple of years. Grade: B+.
