‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Why Emily Wickersham’s Bishop won’t be romancing Tony, McGee
Just in case you wanted some additional confirmation that the new “NCIS” character of Ellie Bishop is not secretly going to be someone designed to be an eventual love interest for Tony or McGee, know this: The woman is not on the market at all. As a matter of fact, she is that rare TV character who is actually going to be already married when you meet her, and have a different sort of story to tell because of it.
While you are not going to meet her husband right away on the show, series boss Gary Glasberg claims to TV Guide that the past for Emily Wickersham’s character is going to start to unravel slowly over time, and it could also include meeting her brothers at some point in the future:
“We will eventually meet her husband, who is an attorney with the NSA. This is a very different relationship from anything we’ve had. There’s something interesting in this world when you have a spouse you can’t tell everything to, and taking on the added responsibilities of this new job could come with consequences.”
While this sort of quote does suggest that perhaps Bishop will not stay married to her man for long, it is probably way to reckless to really make such an assumption. All we can really say for now is that this character is someone who is not going to even have the sort of relationship with Michael Weatherly’s character that could lead to her becoming Ziva 2.0; after all, Glasberg reportedly relates the relationship that the two will have to that of siblings. Unless this is “Dexter” and the sort of show that really just wants you to cringe, this makes it feel very unlikely that anything will ever happen. However, Glasberg does say that Tony will mention dating for the first time since Cote de Pablo left the show in the November 19 episode, and will try to get back out there and meet someone at some point in the spring. While you can say what you will about the production side of things over Cote’s exit, for the Tony character it makes sense to eventually think about moving on if it doesn’t feel like Ziva is ever coming back. At least they are taking a little bit of time for the transition to be natural.
You can take a few more glances at the Bishop character here, and also find out a little more in the way of details about who she really is. We’ll have a full review of the last episode without her tomorrow, and possibly even the first video footage of her courtesy of a promo.

Good! I’m glad because it is too soon for Dinozzo to be considering anyone right now. He got hurt bad with Ziva staying in Israel. He did so much for her and didn’t win her over so it will take a while for his heart to mend. Even though I’m ambivalent about the whole TIVA thing, it would be interesting should Cote decide to return to be Ziva at some point. If Tony has moved on Ziva will really realize what she lost. If Cote does return I do hope for a happy ending between the two characters just to finish the storyline if nothing else. It would be an interesting challenge for the writers since in the last episode she was “letting go of the badge” as part of her figuring things out. McGee has a girlfriend in Delilah and I’m pretty sure still has some affection for Abby too. What I’d like to see in a perfect NCIS world is Bishop doing whatever she does, Agent Borin (Diane Neal) join the team as a kick ass factor since Bishop is supposed to be a thinker not Ziva 2.0. I think that Diane could do that without too much drama. She proved herself in “Oil and Water”. Both women would be good company for Abby. If Cote doesn’t come back then I think that Tony should have a love interest outside of the NCIS team since Gibbs has Rule #12 about coworkers getting involved. That way everybody is happy.
