‘Supernatural’ season 9 notes: DJ Qualls returning; plus, Misha Collins with Curtis Armstrong

What's coming up? -Love Garth on “Supernatural“? If so, the following news should make you pretty excited: DJ Qualls is returning yet again! The longtime fan favorite, who last surfaced during season 8, confirmed the news recently in a post on Twitter while talking about “Hawaii Five-0,” another recent show to feature a contribution from him:

“Thanks for the kind words about my little stint on Five-0. Up next Legit season 2 and yep, Ill confirm it, Supernatural season 9.”

We cannot say that we are even remotely surprised to see Garth coming back. Just seeing what the show has done with Jim Beaver proves that they love to bring back some of their favorites for additional guest spots, and they do some at pretty much any opportunity that they can. Alaina Huffman (Abaddon) and Felicia Day (Charlie) are two characters who have already come back to the show.

The latest -Speaking of returning guest stars, you may have heard already that you are going to see a little more from Curtis Armstrong in his role of Metatron, the man responsible for really kicking Castiel and the rest of the angels out of heaven. Misha Collins posted a photo on Twitter of himself with Armstrong recently, which we’re hoping means that they will be spending some time together. Also, we have the following caption:

“Here with @curtisisbooger plotting the destruction of the universe over a hot chocolate. Follow him for a good time.”

It is going to be at least a week before we see “Supernatural” season 9 start to work itself back into the major storyline, as we are going to see them first of all try to navigate what happens when Dean starts to feel the call of the wild Tuesday night. (Watch a sneak peek for this episode, entitled “Dog Dean Afternoon,” over at the link here.) While this may be a standalone hour, everything that we are seeing about it so far suggests that we are going to be for quite a treat, and plenty of entertainment.

Are there any other previously-recurring “Supernatural” stars that you want to see stage some sort of return to the show? Share in the comment box below!
