‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 8 video: Cobie Smulders vs. Frances Conroy

Get ready -Since “How I Met Your Mother” is not going to be around after Barney and Robin’s wedding to show us the battles that could ensure between the two and their in-laws, they are going to have to take care of some of that this season. Not only that, but Robin seems to have to continue showing all of us that there are still some problems that she has when it comes to dealing with other women.

In the video below from “The Lighthouse,” Robin’s biggest struggle is just trying to convince herself to let a feud go with her future mother-in-law (Frances Conroy). Right when it looks like Barney’s mom is ready to bury the hatchet that came following the argument that the two had over poker night, which included Cobie Smulders’ character taking a blouse as collateral, Robin shows up to breakfast the next day wearing that blouse.

Let’s just say this at the moment: Were Barney not present here, we have a feeling that this could have turned very quickly into an episode of “The Jerry Springer Show.” Given Robin’s athletic ability, it still could if he is not able to contain her.

Do we imagine that there will be some sort of peace for these two eventually? Sure, but given how stubborn these two ladies are, we have to say that this is going to be more of a work in progress. By the end of the series, we have a feeling that they will be all smiles as Robin walks down the aisle.

With all of this being said, we know that the return of the Mother is what most of the viewers for this show are waiting in particular to see. Since CBS did not release any video footage of Cristin Milioti just yet, this tells us that they clearly know that they’ve got a little gem on their hands here, and are waiting to show her off until the last minute.
