‘The Blacklist’ spoilers: Is James Spader’s Red actually afraid of someone?

Are you ready for a surprise when it comes to “The Blacklist”? Over the course of this season, one of the biggest traits of Reddington has always been that he is the smartest guy in the room. So with that in mind, how big of a change are we going to see now when we realize that there may be someone in this universe who even he has some sort of trepidation towards?

This sort of “bigger fish,” as we like to call them for the time being, is going to surface not too far into the future. According to a new report from E! News, this could surface in the eighth episode of the season, and create a whole new set of challenges and dynamics for our characters. For so long now, they have been accustomed to being able to just handle Reddington, and use him to take out some of the blacklisters, but if there is someone out there who he is genuinely afraid of, that certainly raises the stakes and the intrigue to yet another level.

Hopefully, this is also going to tie in at some point to what is the other major mystery taking place on the show: Who is Liz’s husband, really? This to us has been the hardest part of the show to buy into, mostly because we don’t quite understand why she cannot just have one part of her life that is working for her and relatively drama-free. Is that too much to ask? Apparently so, since we would otherwise be looking at a situation where there was not capital-letters DRAMA at every single turn.

Regardless, there is plenty of time left for there to be some great storytelling from every front. The show has a full 22 episodes this season, and that means opportunities to further stir the pot and create interesting situations.
