‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’ spoilers: Whoopi Goldberg to play Mrs. White Rabbit

Big news -The White Rabbit is going to be given far more dimension on “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” than ever before; not only that, but it also turns out that the character is going to be getting a bride!

According to a report from TVLine, Whoopi Goldberg, who is a perpetually-busy woman in between “The View” and some of her other guest-starring roles, is going to be voicing the White Rabbit’s wife on the upcoming eighth episode of the show (pending of course that the show ends up lasting this long). This should give her the opportunity to work a little alongside John Lithgow, and also gives us a chance to see just where this famed woodland creature came from in the first place. When did you ever think that we would get some backstory on a rabbit? It’s the first time that the show is going to be dealing with an animal-related story since the arrival of Jiminy Cricket back on season 1 of “Once Upon a Time” proper. Even then, he was a human long before he become the famed insect.

“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” as we referenced, really needs all of the help we can get. Despite actually being a stronger show than the original as of late, it has become quickly in danger of being the next Thursday-night ABC show paired with “Grey’s Anatomy” to plummet into a ratings abyss. While it’s still around for now, this is the week that the show really needs to find a way to change things up and get moving in the right direction. It’s either that or we hope for phenomenal DVR numbers, which could happen when you are up against the beast otherwise known as “The Big Bang Theory.” Ironically, the flagship show is not too much better, and is really only celebrating right now courtesy of being on a night where every other scripted show on ABC is tanking.

What do you think: Will Whoopi bring some viewers, or is the sort of thing that really won’t matter since we’re looking at an episode airing really far into the future?
