‘Glee’ season 5: See Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Naya Rivera, and more in official cast photos

Lea Michele -Typically, it is common practice for a show to release its promotional photos for a season before it airs, but given everything that transpired with “Glee” over the course of the summer with Cory Monteith’s death, the show understandably chose to take a little bit of a different course.

Therefore, Fox decided to just release their official images this week, that way to not be a distraction to anything else. These were taken a considerable time before production, and Monteith was actually a part of the photo shoot at the time. This is why you can see him featured in the video below at the very end, using one of the images that he took for the show. This ended up being his last involvement with “Glee” before his death, as he never actually started to film any episodes.

But the rest of these photos are happy, though worthy of a little discussion. For example, who would have thought that Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) would be the most scantily-clad member of the cast? Also, is Blaine (Darren Criss) trying to go for a walking version of the American flag with this outfit? All of the photos do a great job of color coordination, especially the ones featuring Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Unique (Alex Newell), and Sam (Chord Overstreet). This is the first time that Unique and Ryder (Blake Jenner) have gotten the publicity photo treatment; while they were not series regulars last year, Marley (Melissa Benoist), Jake (Jacob Artist), and Kitty (Becca Tobin) still took part in the photo shoot.

“Glee” is currently a week into its baseball hiatus, and will return with a new episode entitled “A Katy or a Gaga” starting on November 7. From there, they will continue to air a few more episodes, and then take off for the holiday break. The majority of the season is going to air later in the spring, as the show will take another long hiatus early next year to make way for one of Fox’s new series in “Rake,” which stars Greg Kinnear and will air after “American Idol.” This is part of Fox’s new strategy to go more in the way of cable with 13-episode seasons, and stories that are not procedural in nature.
