‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Kat Graham teases Jeremy’s struggle to keep a secret
Poor, poor Jeremy. If there is one person that we feel for on “The Vampire Diaries” season 5, it’s him. Just look at it this way: While he may be alive, he’s well aware and feeling very guilty that Bonnie died in order for him to be on the earth. That puts him in a position that is far and away different than what anyone else is going through, and trying to deal with Katherine at the same time makes it all the more frustrating.
But, Jeremy is starting to feel the pressure even more now to do something on the subject of Bonnie. Specifically, we’re talking here about his admitting to others that she is in fact dead, and isn’t just away doing something else for the summer. Speaking about this to TV Guide, Kat Graham explains the sort of emotional toll that it will take on him over the next few weeks as he tries to figure this out:
“Jeremy is literally holding the key that locks the secret. So, he’s going to be struggling with a lot in the next few episodes and be put in a position where there’s a lot of pressure on him. You’ll see Jeremy have to make some really crazy decisions.”
As for the idea of romance blooming again for Bonnie and Jeremy in the future, Graham sees it as a sort of “natural progression,” though it is hard to say just how that would work given their unusual circumstances. Does anyone else picture a bizarre version of that movie “Casper” where the ghost tried to romance Christina Ricci?
Eventually at some point, this secret has to get out, right? The major issue that we see spawning from this is that Jeremy ends up getting a verbal smackdown from everyone else that is upset over him going along with what Bonnie wants. But it is her “dying” wish … or actually an already-dead wish. Just look at “The Vampire Diaries” coming up with some new terms!
