Why is Elena dreaming about Stefan? This is the question that she is wondering during Thursday night’s new episode of “The Vampire Diaries” season 5, and the answer to that is something that she’ll be figuring out soon. Regardless of whether or not she and Paul Wesley’s characters are dating, they are still linked in the sort of way that would drive any ex nuts. Therefore, it’s hard to really blame Damon for getting more than a little bit annoyed at the though of his girlfriend pondering over another man against her will.
But in the end, Elena has to be the one to save him. She’s the “chosen one” in the most cliche way ever. She hasn’t quite realized that the ripper is back in full force yet, and trying to find him and then stop him is going to be quite the difficult task that will require Damon’s help. So don’t get too used to see scenes of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev in bed like the one below, because these two are hitting the road.
But do we need more of Stefan the ripper? Right now, we’d say that we do. Having a calmer Stefan while his brother his dating his ex would be dull, and this way Paul Wesley’s getting his money’s worth. Not only does he get to play a somewhat-sophisticated killer in Silas, but he has someone who is raw, primal, and out for blood. When you imagine how emaciated the guy was after being stuck in a vampire prison for most of the summer, then it makes some sense that he’d have a serious craving for revenge. It doesn’t even matter to him that none of these people deserve to be sucked dry anymore. This is the Stefan we support: He’s either got to be the sweet guy or the insane one, and there’s no middle ground.
In the end, sink your fangs into the sneak-peek video below … the best really is still to come with this episode and this season. With a title like “Original Sin,” you know that some stuff is going to go down that doesn’t quite make everyone happy.
