‘Glee’ season 5 song spoilers: Cast tributes Cory Monteith in ‘Seasons of Love’

Take a look -Everyone has a couple of those songs that seem to really “get to you,” and it almost doesn’t matter just when you hear it or who is actually singing it. For us, one of those songs just so happens to be “Seasons of Love” from the musical “Rent.” It still moves us, and it was a perfect addition in many ways to “Glee’s” Cory Monteith tribute episode airing on Thursday.

While there are a number of songs performed during the episode that do feature just one particular vocalist, this is really all about the entire cast coming together and singing a song that, as the title suggests, is really all about love. It’s about cherishing the memories that you can form in life, and not just focusing on the sad or the negative. It may be a beacon of hope during the episode, at least if you can stop the tears from flowing during it.

We’re sure that you could be wondering about why Lea Michele doesn’t have a standout moment in the song, and the reason why you don’t hear her is simple: She is being saved for “Make You Feel My Love,” the emotional song that will be performed near the end of the episode. Rumor has it that this will also be her only performance during the episode.

When the episode rolls around, we’re going to be offering a somewhat-different version of the standard review that we traditionally give for most of these episodes, and for good reason. After all, it feels cruel to really harp on anything negative and will be focusing solely on Cory’s memory given what he means to so many us, and this episode will be a celebration of that.

If you want to hear one other song now featured during the episode, click here for the emotional performance of “If I Die Young” from Naya Rivera’s character of Santana.
