‘Supernatural’ season 9, episode 1 preview: Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins will rule premiere
Now that we are a day away from the “Supernatural” season 9 premiere, let’s start to get to the nitty-gritty and describe what could be a very important episode in setting up the mythology of what comes next in the weeks ahead.
The first thing to take note of here is that Sam is not going to start this episode off in a weak physical state. What happened last year with the sacrifice is not just going to take a toll physically; it also will also be emotionally. By the end of the the premiere, something is going to happen that will make Sam feel very much like he is being left out in the cold. Will Dean ever clue him in on a new secret? Given that Winchester friction is a tale as old as time with this show, it will last for at least a little while.
But when it comes to Sam and Dean, expect this story to be a little bit more of a slow burn as they try to get back in the thick of things, and really just try to figure out what to do now following the angels falling down to earth. This is, after all, going to be what “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here” is really going to be all about. Castiel’s story will be super-important as he starts to become used to life as a human. This is going to be difficult, and it will also be hilarious. Eventually, Castiel will start to move forward into a different phase of his life and possibly even develop romantic feelings for somebody, but that’s not going to happen until he figures out some of his bearings. The other interesting angel arriving this week is Ezekiel, and there are two things worth noting about this character now:
1. Their powers are significantly stronger than Castiel’s at this point.
2. They also are not going to be so uniquely sided with the Winchesters.

Dean had just as huge of a part in this as Sam and Cas so I’m not sure why this blogger makes it sound like he wasn’t doing much. I think trying to do whatever it takes to save your brother and having to not only fight angels who show up pissed trying to find Cas but pulling out all the old holy fires, angel warding and banishing symbols with no help to protect Sam while also worrying about his BFF who suddenly switched species and is being hunted pretty much meant that Dean had a busy episode. I was actually pretty stoked to see Dean being BAMF (and smarter) against the angels.

Dude, really? You know that Dean fans are extremely upset already about this season and the lack of Dean spoilers and how things went last season and the title of this article seems specifically designed to make them even more upset and angry and not willing to watch the show? Do you not care about Supernatural or did you just want a possibly controversial title for the article to draw in more hits on it? Or have you already saw the premiere and know that Dean isn’t going to have a big role to play and are trying to warn the Dean fans?
I love this site, but even I, as a huge Misha Collins fan, don’t like that you left off Jensen Ackles like that. Just not cool. I am super excited about Castiel’s expanded role (other than that possible love interest crap) this season and can’t wait to see more of my favorite, but I don’t want that to come at the expense of more Dean or a good story line for Dean. What I’d really like to see is Dean, Sam, and Cas working as a team and being equals and all having a good story line (and no more of this random female love interest that comes out of nowhere garbage please).
Even as a self-proclaimed Cas-girl though, I have to say that this article does nothing to make me excited for the premiere tonight. I really hope that Season 9 is better than the spoilers have indicated.

I’m confused- did the blogger who wrote this article already see the episode or is this based on spoilers/interviews/promos?

Dean Who? Oh you mean the guy that will make sure SpecialSam will be noticed by the audience by standing back and shining the spotlight on the special snowflake Sam? The one who will only be used as a servant for Sam? Thanks but no thanks. Carver really has shown his disdain for Dean, Dean fans as well as for Jensen. What a crappy show-runner.

going from previews, it’s all about Dean and how he saves his brother Sam, yet again. For me, the best shows are all of Team Free Will, Dean, Sam and Cas. And enough with the romantic interests, (actors only scheduled for one episode)

So tired of angels. So tired of Cas the dimwit bumbling idiot. Please kill all angels off asap, they ruined Supernatural.

Who is Sean? For that matter, who is Dean? He seems to be some dude who just shows up to kickstart Sam’s latest adventure and then he ll take his rightful place on the sidelines, pom poms in hand.

Other than making sure special Sam lives another day, does Dean even have a reason to be on this show anymore? Sad to think how other producers would have eagerly made the most of Dean/Jensen’s popularity whereas Carver just shoved him into the sidelines.
