‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 4 preview: Robin needs a friend

As we are already starting to learn courtesy of “How I Met Your Mother” so far this season, Robin’s having herself a little bit of a hard time. She has to plan a wedding around the most eccentric of characters in Barney, and that alone is a challenge. Add to the mix Ted, family members, and some other assorted problems, and you have a situation that could end very badly around the time that the ceremony itself actually arrives. Isn’t that how most weddings go in real life? Nothing ever goes as planned, but in the end everyone gets the most important part out of it… they become a a married couple.

So what is the dilemma that we have to talk about in this new promo? It’s something that is, in a word, very different than anything that we have seen from her before: The need for a new friend. In the new clip below the moment that stands out to us above anything else is Robin telling Lily that she could use another female friend.

Now, let’s take a walk into conspiracy corner, shall we? The crazy thing is that we almost suspect this is the perfect set-up for the Mother and Robin to become friends at some point, which could be the perfect situation for Ted. This is someone who could already know and like her, and therefore fit in perfectly with the group. As for whether or not she will help him actually get over Robin, that’s a little bit of a different story. At this point, the only person that is going to help Ted get over his feelings for Robin is himself, no one can really do that for him.
