‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Chord Overstreet gets his wings

…And no, we don’t think that he drank a Red Bull first.

Anyway, the latest “Glee” season 5 photo that we have here is of none other than Chord’s character, who is both sporting a serious set of wings as well as a serious set of abs. This was posted on Twitter by executive producer Ryan Murphy, with a clear emphasis that this will be for some sort of Lady Gaga-inspired performance. The title for 5×04 (which will air come November after baseball) is “A Katy or a Gaga,” and will be all about the musical battle between the two artists on the charts. (Any actual battle between Katy and the Lady is perpetuated only by a story-hungry media outlet.)

We like the look for Chord, if only because it is proving that “Glee” is still at least trying to do some different / interesting things. The one major concern that we have for this episode is and other season 5 episodes is that the show ends up becoming a little too hokey and over-the-top. We don’t really know how many more stories there are left to tell at McKinley, and at this point we would almost prefer if the emphasis was placed more on what was happening in New York City, or with the future of some of the people who are graduating.

Chord’s Sam Evans does have an interesting arc to play here moving forward, as he is going to be transitioning into a future that may include falling for the new school nurse (played by Phoebe Strole). While we know already some of what the likes of Tina, Blaine, and Artie want to do with their future, Sam’s is somewhat of a mystery. Hopefully this plot will shed some light on it.
